Pascoe Vale is delighted to announce that it has completed the signing of Matthew Hennessey for the second half of the Victorian National Premier League season.
Hennessey, 19, has a wealth of experience despite his ripe age, having previously spent time at fellow NPL sides Hume City and Melbourne Victory.
The centre-back kickstarted his NPL career at ABD Stadium in 2014, where he notably featured in Hume City’s FFA Cup semi-final tie against Melbourne Victory at AAMI Park in 2015.
He later joined the Big V in 2016, playing a role in Vaughan Coveny’s rearguard, before deciding to make the switch to CB Smith Reserve.
The young gun is reknowned for his cool and composed distribution, coupled with fearless tackling.
He says Pascoe Vale’s culture and values formed a key part in his decision to join the club.
“I believe there was some interest in me from a few other NPL clubs, but after chatting with Vitale [Ferrante] and Lou [Tona], it didn’t take too long for me to decide on signing with Pascoe Vale,” Hennessey told pvfc.com.au.
“Once they outlined the values and culture of the club, and the way they went about their development opportunities, the decision became a no brainer.
“Although I am still regarded as a young player, my hope is that I might add some additional depth to a strong squad, as well as a degree of experience, since I have already played three seasons at this level. I sincerely hope I can bring something different to the club to repay the faith shown to me by management.
“The ultimate goal is to finish in the top four and going as far as we can in the finals series.”
Hennessey is in contention to make his debut against Oakleigh Cannons in Round 13 of the NPL at home on Friday night.
